Why are we endorsing Matt Boschetto and Stephen Martin-Pinto?
If we don't want more of the same - a wasteful, unresponsive City Government* - then we need to think critically about who should represent us on the Board of Supervisors. Simply put, our current Supervisor, Myrna Melgar, is out of step with how we vote - and what we prioritize - in this district.
Sensible D7 endorses Matt Boschetto and Stephen Martin-Pinto for District 7 Supervisor. Either will represent us infinitely better than the incumbent.
Please visit the Boschetto and Martin-Pinto websites to learn more. We recommend ranking them #1 and #2, and leaving Melgar OFF your ballot.
In sharp contrast to Boschetto and Martin-Pinto ... incumbent Melgar:
Supported Prop B in March (the “Cop Tax”) which would have required us to pay new taxes to increase police staffing – San Franciscans voted “NO.”
Said "I ... support disbanding the SFPD…" Statement to Harvey Milk Democratic Club
Opposed Prop F in March, which ties treatment to general assistance payments to drug addicted individuals - San Franciscans voted YES!”
Opposed the recall of DA Chesa Boudin - San Franciscans recalled him!
Opposed deportation of undocumented fentanyl dealers.
Co-authored Prop K to close the Great Highway. (There is nothing in Prop K about building a park, nor is there any funding for one.)
Pushed a divisive plan on the West Portal area, politicizing the tragic death of a family to bypass resident and merchant concerns. "If it were up to me (the plan) would take all of the cars off of West Portal" – Melgar, quoted in SF Standard.
Said "These are not my people” while attending a District 7 meeting in June, to describe local residents who expressed concern about upzoning in residential neighborhoods – Melgar, quoted in Mission Local.
Incumbent Melgar brings nothing more to the table than continued, failing, progressive ideology that has already contributed greatly to San Francisco’s growing deficit, unsafe streets and tarnished reputation. We believe that Matt Boschetto and Stephen Martin-Pinto will work for us, not against us.
* "San Francisco was ranked as the worst run city in America in 2024 in a widely reported study which evaluated the operating efficiency of 148 of the largest cities in the nation during the previous year based on 36 quantitative metrics across six service categories.”
What about Ranked Choice Voting?
We recommend ranking Matt Boschetto #1 and Stephen Martin-Pinto #2, and leaving Melgar OFF your ballot.
Remember! With ranked choice voting, it is important to:
Rank every candidate you like, in the order you like them. Vote for at least 2 candidates. Choosing only one can help elect your least favorite. Perhaps most important - DO NOT vote for anyone you do not want in office.
In other words...
"Rank the good... BLANK the rest.”
– Robert O’Reilly
Each supervisor candidate was asked to submit a video about themselves…
They responded to the following questions:
What is the top problem facing District 7 right now and what will you do about it?
What experience makes you qualified to represent your District and how long have you lived here?
There is a looming $740M budget deficit. Give 3 ideas on how to balance the budget.
If elected, what policies and legislation will you support to make your residents safer?
If a video from a candidate is not shown here they have not submitted a video.
